The role
Raytheon UK is looking for an experienced Hardware / Firmware engineer to join Raytheon’s Air Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) team in Harlow, reporting directly to an Engineering Manager.
The Senior Firmware / Hardware Engineer supports the hardware and firmware development of RUK’s ATMS products, working collaboratively with other engineering disciplines in the ATMS business.
This role includes:
* Working effectively within a multi-disciplined design team
* Assessing customer requirements, interpretation and creation of Design Specifications
* Deriving detailed Hardware and or firmware requirements for complex systems
* Conduct and direct Design, commissioning, circuit debug and fault diagnosis through the project lifecycle
* Electronic Schematic capture, PCB Layout review
* Modelling and simulations of functions
* Ability to Design to Cost and schedule
* Document Verification and Qualification of products to industry and customer standards
* Prepare technical documents & reports
Essential Skills:
* Qualifications and experience in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
* Experience of VHDL based FPGA design and verification techniques
* Good and demonstrable problem-solving skills with practical laboratory test, circuit build & test measurement experience
* Practical experience of FPGA technology from Xilinx, Altera and/or Actel
* Ability to debug and test new hardware and firmware designs
* Good problem-solving skills, willing to take ownership as well as positively contributing within cross-discipline teams
* Experience in simulation tools (i.e. Matlab Simulink or Spice)
* Good communication skills. Ability to tailor communications to level and audience at all levels
* Eligible or current holder of SC security clearance
Desired Skills:
* Experience using the Mentor Graphics tool suite; DxDesigner, Constraints Editor, HyperLynx tools such as Signal Integrity & Power Analyser, SystemVision simulation or equivalents would be advantageous
* Proven analytical skills in circuit simulation
* Experience of working with Industry standard toolsets (e.g. DOORs)
Required Education/Experience:
* BEng/ MSc / MEng / PhD in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or similar, with appropriate specialisation in FPGA/Firmware/digital design techniques and embedded development. Candidates with other qualifications and relevant experience will be considered
