Job Description:
We are looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to join our Finance Team and partner with the UK retail team. Option to be based in Dublin, Reading or London, but regular travel expected regardless of permanent location. Working with leadership and key stakeholders, the Commercial Finance Manager will identify opportunities to optimise our operating model in the UK, through optimising our estate and identifying opportunities to drive sales growth and cost efficiencies.
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
* Provide strategic direction and act as a lead financial partner to the UK Senior Leadership team on key commercial initiatives across the UK market.
* Furnish the UK Senior Leadership team with a comprehensive monthly financial update, analysing the latest trading and financial performance, including insights on areas for improvement in both trade and operating costs.
* Responsible for the establishment of a long-term financial plan for the UK business to ensure we remain on track to achieve our strategic goals, ensuring consistent alignment between financial strategies and business goals.
* Provide robust support, guidance and education to the business through insights and analysis, flagging any potential risks or opportunities to enable the leadership team to take any necessary action.
* Support the development of financial KPIs to assess the success of both the business and the financial strategy.
* Conduct ongoing analysis of store trading and financial performance, providing comprehensive insights to the leadership team to improve the profitability of our stores.
* Work collaboratively with the global team on the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes and ensure UK plans are aligned to overall group financial plans.
* Construct compelling pieces of financial analyses, outlining issues, opportunities and solutions, overseeing development & ensuring output is insightful & actionable.
* Assess new investment opportunities in both stores and depots and identify potential scope to support our expansion and optimisation plans.
Minimum Requirements:
* Qualified accountant with 5+ years progressive experience working in a strategic or finance, commercially focused role, in a consulting practice or industry.
* High level of commercial and financial acumen with the ability to formulate and clearly communicate analysis, insight and recommendations for future strategies.
* Demonstrates curiosity and knowledge when it comes to competitors and external market trends with the ability to communicate learnings clearly to key stakeholders.
* Ability to partner with the business across all levels of the organisation, supporting the development of strategy, delivery and reporting of results.
* Is comfortable in designing investment appraisal and governance processes to support complex long term strategic initiatives.
* Has worked in a fast-paced finance team, preferably in retail/FMCG.
* Ability to structure business case governance on a case-by-case basis depending on what level of rigour is required.
* Strong communication skills. Ability to structure and present a compelling story, bringing stakeholders on the ‘journey’.
* Strong organisational, planning and delegation skills and ability to manage multiple deliverables within deadlines.
* Self-Motivated: Self-motivated with the ability to be comfortable in an agile role.
* Strategic Thinking: Is a clear strategic thinker and very comfortable working in this setting.
* Relationships & Influence: Adept and comfortable in building relationships at all levels of the business with the ability to influence across the organisation.
* Decision Making: Ability to formulate own opinions through financial analysis and multiple source insights which in turn supports decision making and drives outcomes.
* Innovation: Influences and empowers others to think creatively ensuring that processes are designed to optimise efficiency and value.
