EPUT is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Old Age Community team based at Sydervelt Centre, Canvey Island. The team provides services mainly to dementia patients and to elderly patients in Rochford, Rayleigh and Canvey Island.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership for the assessment and management of dementia patients in the community and to functional older adults aged 70+ in the catchment area. The post holder will be the Approved Clinician for patients detained under the Community Treatment Order.
You must have full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register, with an appropriate CCT or equivalent or be within six months of obtaining your CCT on the date of the AAC.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide clinical leadership and be the Responsible Clinician for all patients open to the community team.
2. Review new patients in a timely manner and oversee the clinical management of patients.
3. Be available for timely meetings, MDT, and facilitate discharge planning.
4. Carry out duties as Responsible Clinician, including Mental Health Act assessments, preparation of tribunal reports, and giving oral evidence at manager’s hearings and mental health review tribunals for patients under CTO. There is 1 patient under CTO at present.
5. Be actively involved in supporting staff development and in effecting continual service improvement.
6. Provide clinical supervision to the trainees, as well as supervising the specialty doctor.
7. Clinical Audit: The post holder will participate in audit to ensure the continuous improvement of the service.
8. The post holder will only be expected to provide cover for holidays and absences with an agreement with other Consultant Colleagues in the area.
