Job summary Due to career development the Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU) have a vacancy for a highly motivated and enthusiastic deputy sister or charge nurse. EAU is a 24 bedded area which cares for medical patients. We also have 4 escalation beds. We are an assessment unit who take patients directly from UTC, SDEC, clinics and GPs. We work closely with the whole MDT and have our own ward based OTs and Physios. Alongside the acute medical admissions we care for some patients who require complex discharge planning. and work closely with the social work department. We are a friendly team who strive for perfection. As a Band 6 you will be supported with any learning/development you may require. Please note this position is not due to start until on or after 01-May-2025. Main duties of the job Duties for this post will include clinical duties such as assessing, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care and supporting colleagues in providing care of the highest standard. Working with and leading the multi-disciplinary team, you will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will need to be a role model, both clinically and professionally with the ability to motivate and manage, adapting to rapidly changing situations. You will frequently be the designated shift co-ordinator and will be expected to deputise for the Department Manager. You will support the ward manager to complete appraisals, support with absence management and clinical education. You will be supported to be an efficient Team Leader who is able to co-ordinate effectively whilst maintaining the highest standards of care and good team morale.
