Our purpose is simple, to save lives at sea. Since the 19th century, our crews have been risking their lives to save those who are in danger of drowning. We’re looking for an experienced Risk and Compliance Manager to join our Independent Assurance Department. This is an exciting role that will deliver defined improvements to the risk management framework at the RNLI.
As a member of the Risk and Compliance team, you will lead and manage the risk and compliance framework across the RNLI. You will collaborate with senior leaders across the organisation to lead and influence them in understanding and taking ownership of their risk and compliance responsibilities. You will be joining the team at an exciting time, when we will be delivering key improvements to the risk and compliance framework over 2025.
Please note that this is a 12 month fixed term contract to cover Sabbatical Leave. Hybrid working will be considered, with travel expected to our Support Centre in Poole and occasional overnight travel to support our regional model, as required. The successful candidate should be prepared to travel nationally as required and stay away overnight.
Your role
1. Deliver the 2025 risk management objectives for the RNLI, successfully managing key improvement initiatives to the risk and compliance framework across the organisation.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance through delivery of an improved Policy Assurance framework.
3. Manage and oversee risk and compliance reporting requirements to the Executive Team, Audit & Risk Committee, and Trustees, as required.
4. Lead our Senior Leaders in embracing their risk and compliance responsibilities, providing expert guidance to foster a culture of risk awareness throughout the organisation.
5. Champion our risk and compliance framework across the RNLI, ensuring it integrates with and is aligned to the work of our strategy, planning, and performance teams.
About you

* Experience of leading risk management in a medium sized, multi-disciplined and dispersed organisation.
* IRM Diploma in risk management and/or experience of working in senior risk management role(s). (essential)
* Membership of a professional body and evidence of CPD relevant to risk management.
* The ability to build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across an organisation and influence effectively at all levels.
* Experience of project management in delivering improvements.
* A full Driving Licence (for UK and Ireland)
If you consider yourself to be someone who enjoys operating at a senior level with excellent relationship management skills, whilst embracing a ‘hands-on’ approach to your role, then apply today!
