This role will also focus on building community engagement through events and activities that reduce isolation, boost confidence, and improve well-being. You will be passionate about community development, volunteering, and supporting individuals on their journey to employment. Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills and a commitment to safeguarding and health & safety standards are essential. The role requires someone who can work independently while collaborating effectively with the leadership team and external partners. There will an occasional need for weekend and evening availability and candidates must be willing undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement the operational plan for the thematic area. Recruit, train, and support volunteers to enhance their skills and provide meaningful engagement. Monitor volunteer progress, supporting their pathway to further opportunities or employment, in line with funding targets. Cultivate and maintain partnerships with stakeholders, particularly for student placements and work experience. Lead the development of community-focused initiatives, including employability workshops, volunteering opportunities, and upskilling activities. Identify and apply for additional funding to sustain the programme beyond initial National Lottery support. Enhance the charity’s digital presence and raise awareness through collaboration with the leadership team. Model and promote the charity's values and culture. Implement and uphold the organisation’s Safeguarding policies and procedures for volunteers and student placements. Ensure adherence to the charity’s Health & Safety guidelines. Line manage staff, volunteers, and student placements within the service area. Collect and report on monitoring data, providing regular written and verbal updates on the programme’s progress. Required Experience & Knowledge Experience in community engagement and general management. Experience in engaging and working collaboratively with agencies and other voluntary organisations. Experienced in presenting and speaking in group settings. Previous involvement in setting up, planning, and delivering community-based projects. Strong network within the local community. Project/ Program management experience. Knowledge Understanding the barriers faced by deprived backgrounds. Knowledge of the ABCD approach to community building Understanding of and commitment to Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, including relevant legislation.
