Role Summary:
The National Energy Foundation is an independent domestic energy and sustainability charity that has been at the forefront of improving the use of energy in buildings for more than 30 years. Our passionate and experienced team are focused on reducing fuel poverty, cutting household carbon emissions and creating healthier communities through innovative projects.
In light of NEF’s ongoing expansion, we’re on the lookout for a Marketing Officer to join the marketing team in spreading the word about our endeavours in energy efficiency, home retrofit, and tackling fuel poverty.
As part of the role, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, managing content for NEF’s blog. You will play an integral role in shaping newsletter content, drafting press releases, and writing copy for promotional articles. You will help create social media content, develop website content, and optimise it for SEO, as well as lead on impact reporting during team meetings.
You will also support the marketing team by researching marketing opportunities, helping organise internal and external events, and working with third parties to gather key information that contributes to the overall NEF marketing plan.
We’re looking for someone with 1–2 years of marketing experience, a passion for creating engaging content, an interest in sustainability, and the potential to develop a successful career in marketing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Create social media content for all NEF platforms and help set up new channels to grow NEF’s reach.
* Manage the NEF blog, working with volunteers, editing, and optimising blog content for SEO.
* Work with project teams to gather content for project newsletters and create these in our online email platform.
* Collaborate with press outlets to create press releases, editorials, and advertorial content promoting NEF projects.
* Work with project teams to measure impact and create a monthly impact presentation.
* Update company websites and work with the marketing team and our external agency to design and deliver new websites and website content.
* Under the guidance of the Head of Marketing and Engagement, conduct research on marketing opportunities and outlets, gathering key information and pricing.
* Work closely with the Partnership Team to explore marketing collaborations and partnerships.
Person Specification:
* Excellent verbal communication skills and confidence when speaking with people at all levels.
* Strong understanding of social media with the ability to devise and deliver engaging content across multiple platforms.
* Ability to write accurate, compelling, and engaging copy that sets the right tone.
* Interest in home energy, sustainability, and renewables.
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
* Confident and proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently and remotely.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Office 365, and databases.
