Our client is an Ofsted outstanding school that supports the education of looked after children (LAC) aged 11-17. They are looking for a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant who can assist with delivering across the wider curriculum such as Science, Humanities, and Languages along with literacy and numeracy when required.
The pupils live in residential care homes and have a wide range of complex issues resulting from social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEMH)
What will you do in the role as a HLTA?
- Deliver quality, tailored, learning and teaching, working under the guidance of Senior Education staff
- Contribute to the personalised nature of the education provision by regularly communicating with other members of the education team and care staff about each pupil's progress and needs.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of the children and young people
What skills do you need to have?
- Minimum Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools or equivalent.
- Ability to relate well to children and young people with additional needs, experience of working with SEN would be advantageous, personal experience is hugely relevant, but a character fit is most important.
- Ideally have a valid Team Teach certificate - if not, you can do your training through us!
- Be resilient, not easily offended and have the skills to de-escalate sometimes challenging situations.
- Be able to remain calm under pressure.
- Be confident, passionate, and highly motivated.
- Be vigilant in identifying safeguarding concerns and following protocol.
