Junior Project Engineer
The Role
As a Junior Project Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of new connection utility projects within the specified region. Working closely with experienced Project Managers, the Regional Manager, and the construction support team, you will ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This position will give you hands-on engineering experience, technical mentorship, and the opportunity to develop your skills while progressing to take on more complex engineering responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist in planning and scheduling onsite and offsite works to support project execution.
2. Help coordinate the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring they meet specifications and project requirements.
3. Support the forecasting and allocation of project resources under the guidance of senior engineers and Project Managers.
4. Uphold and promote a strong culture of Health, Safety, and Quality throughout all phases of project delivery.
5. Prepare and assist in the communication of project-specific Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS).
6. Learn to track project financials, including monitoring cost variations and assisting with invoicing processes.
7. Attend and contribute to client meetings, including pre-start and progress reviews, to understand project timelines, costs, and requirements.
8. Assist in the preparation of project documentation, such as status updates, engineering reports, financial summaries, and technical plans.
9. Support the project closure process by aiding in the reconciliation of activities and costs.
Requirements for the Junior Project Engineer
1. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the South West.
2. Experience or exposure to the utility, construction, or similar sectors (e.g., LV Cable Jointer, Jointer's Mate, NCO 1 Gas, or Water Assistant would be ideal).
3. Strong organisational and time management skills.
4. Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
5. Competency with IT tools, including Microsoft Office.
6. Enthusiasm for learning and developing engineering and project management skills.
7. Keen attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset.
Salary and Package includes:
1. Starting salary ranges between £28,000-£34,000 per annum.
2. Full-Time, Permanent role.
3. Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (40 hours per week).
4. 25 days holiday + bank holidays as standard.
5. Up to 3 extra days holiday for long service: 2 years +1, 5 years +1, 10 years +1.
6. Option to purchase an additional 5 days holiday per year.
7. 5% employer pension contribution.
8. 2x Death in Service Cover.
9. Cycle to work scheme.
10. Private health cover, half paid for by us, and fully paid after 3 years.
