Our client, a social care company with Children's Homes for Children and Young People with EBD and associated learning disabilities throughout the Northwest, is currently looking to recruit an experienced, compassionate, and flexible Residential Senior Therapeutic Child Care Practitioner to ensure that the care provided is of the highest quality in an environment that supports and encourages children to reach their full potential.
Reporting to the Registered Manager, duties include:
1. Assisting the Registered and Deputy Managers in the overall running of the home and effectively supervising staff providing care for children and young people in a residential setting in accordance with legislation and organisational policies and procedures.
2. Ensuring that the home operates within the National Quality Care Standards and Regulations for Children's Homes and develops a service that offers outstanding results for children and young people.
3. Assisting in delivering a child-centred and stimulating environment in which children can receive high-quality physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care and support, acting as a positive adult role model.
4. Supporting children to ensure their health, medical, and educational needs are met.
5. Promoting and evidencing the children's identity, including religion, culture, ethnicity, sexuality, and linguistic needs, offering other forms of communication where possible.
6. Maintaining documentation, record keeping, and communication, ensuring effective partnership working across the statutory, voluntary, and independent sectors.
7. Responding to the Registered Manager to ensure appropriate action is taken following internal and external inspections, audits, complaints, and investigations.
8. Taking responsibility for professional development and participating in supervision, performance review development, and training events as agreed.
9. Identifying and addressing the needs of diverse groups of children and adults.
10. Ensuring that practice is carried out by the requirements of all relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and the policies and procedures of Lancashire's Safeguarding Children's Board.
11. Encouraging appropriate behaviour and managing, with compassion, challenging behaviour both within and outside the home.
12. Undertaking personal care and moving and handling where required.
Minimum Requirements:
As a successful candidate, you will have previous experience as a Children's Home Support Worker or Children's Home Senior Support Worker with a caring and empathic nature and ideally gained or currently studying Level 3 or 4 Children's Residential qualification. Excellent supervisory skills and a passion for caring for and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people are essential. You must also be able to pass full Ofsted DBS Checks.

Salary: £36,000 - £40,000
Shift pattern: 10 x 24-hour shifts (includes sleep-in) per month on a rolling rota pattern, 2 shifts one week, 3 shifts the next week.
Training period: Until early 2025 will be Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and holidays will be given for Christmas and New Year.
