OCU Group are currently looking for a Workshop Plant Fitter to join our growing Plant and Transport team in Levenshulme.
A Workshop Plant Fitter is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing plant machinery and equipment used in construction, agriculture, or industrial settings. This role typically involves hands-on technical work in a workshop environment and may also require occasional on-site visits.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repairs:
* Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on a variety of plant machinery (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, dumpers, loaders, and telehandlers).
* Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using diagnostic tools and equipment.
* Perform repairs to ensure machinery operates efficiently and safely.
Servicing and Overhauls:
* Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
* Dismantle and rebuild machinery or components as needed.
Workshop Operations:
* Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and stored correctly.
* Adhere to health and safety protocols within the workshop environment.
* Complete job cards, service reports, and records accurately.
Testing and Quality Assurance:
* Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper functionality.
* Ensure all repairs meet company standards and compliance regulations.
Customer Support:
* Provide technical advice to customers or operators.
* Occasionally travel to customer sites for emergency repairs.
Skills and Experience:
Technical Skills:
* Proficient in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Qualifications:
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
* City & Guilds certification in relevant areas (desirable).
* Valid UK driving license (essential for site visits).

* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Physical fitness and ability to handle heavy machinery parts.
* Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies or machinery.
Working Conditions:
* Typically based in a workshop but may involve occasional outdoor or site-based work.
