Job Summary:
* To define the strategic intent for the St Austell Process Engineering Function and contribute to the STA entity strategy.
* To effectively manage the St Austell Process Engineering to ensure that the function delivers to time cost and quality in all activities.
* To be accountable for all operational excellence activities within STA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Measure and control functional costs and resources within agreed budgets to ensure the business is fully supported.
* Responsible for driving continuous improvements through the use of lean six sigma tools.
* To monitor and measure STA operational excellence.
* Lead and participate in appropriate projects, product and process development.
* Define departmental objectives in line with business goals.
* Responsible for coordinating the introduction of new products.
* Responsible for coordinating and customer product transfers.
* Effectively manage the process engineering team to ensure effective service delivery.
* Ensure functional legislative compliance.
* Provide effective processes to the production department to ensure a quality and cost effective product is produced on time.
* Ensure all customer validation requirements are met within expectations.
* Be an active member of the customer facing operational team.

* Lead by example and get involved to ensure the overall implementation of the Safety Leadership Statement and to maintain its ongoing effectiveness.
* Hold the overall responsibility for safety, health and welfare at work of employees, visitors and contractors.

* Manage and conduct work activities in such a way as to prevent behavior that puts employees at risk.
* Ensure that employees are not subject to retaliation if they report safety issues within the site or raise concerns through West’s Compliance and Ethics Helpline.
* Establish comprehensive HSE Objectives/Goals/Targets/Plans, which are documented, measured, and communicated and which are consistent with the Corporate HSE Programs, and regional/global targets.
Quality:
* The job holder is aware of his/her special responsibility for quality according to the company’s quality policy and conducts his/her activities in accordance with the company quality policy at all times.
* Comply with company cGMP regulations.
* Accurately record all details as required on company documents.
* Undertake all necessary training and re-training to be able to undertake all aspects of the job.
Qualifications/ Skills/ Abilities:
Minimum:
* Educated to university degree level.
* Six Sigma Green Belt.
* ILM Level 5 or equivalent.
Desirable:
* Six Sigma Black Belt.
* ILM level 7 or equivalent.
* APM or equivalent qualification.
Competencies I Authorities:
* Experience of process engineering in a manufacturing environment.
* Experience of working in a matrix management environment.
* Experience in managing a team.
* Experience in setting and managing budgets.
* Project Management experience.
* Experience of defining a strategy for process engineering in a manufacturing environment.
* Experience in a customer facing role.
* Experience in a purchasing role.
* Experience of working with SAP.
* Experience in validation and change control.
