My client situated in Bolton are looking for a CNC Turner to add to their growing engineering team. Job Description: CNC Turner Manufacture of precision parts using conventional Centre Lathe (turning). Requirement to operate conventional milling and drilling machines, and to operate/oversee CNC machines. Assembly/fitting of manufactured parts, including adjustment of parts to ensure precision fit, and use of general hand tools. Working hours & Salary: CNC Turner Monday-Thursday 6.30am-4.15pm; £33,285.20 Responsibilities & Duties: CNC Turner Duties: • Precision turning: operation of conventional centre lathe to manufacture precision parts and refurbish danaged/worn parts. • Milling and drilling: operation of light conventional milling and drilling machines for new part manufacture and repair work • Fitting work: light assembly of new parts to drawing, functional testing of sub-assemblies and finished assemblies. Fit parts to achieve required level of precision. • CNC turning/milling machine operation: machine feeding and minding; programming if appropriate training is completed. • Design for Manufacture: contribute to continuous improvement through suggestions for manufacturing and productivity improvements. • Any other ad hoc duties as may be required, and as commensurate with the grade of post. Responsibilities: • Safe working: responsible for safe operation of machines and equipment, in accordance with statutory requirements. • Technical skills: responsible for reading and interpreting technical drawings and information relevant to duties. • Quality: produce parts and repairs to required quality standard. • Delivery: meet agreed production times, deadlines and delivery dates. Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills: CNC Turner Essential • Safe working: knowledge and ability to work machine tools in safe manner, compliant with statutory requirements. • Technical skills: requirement to read and interpret drawings and technical information as required to perform duties. • Measuring equipment: ability to use and care for precision measuring equipment (micrometer, vernier caliper as minimum). Desirable • Qualifications: completion of relevant apprenticeship and related qualifications. • General Experience: at least five years experience in use of conventional machine tools (lathe, milling machine, drilling machines) and fitting activities. • CNC experience: experience in minding, feeding and CNC milling machines and lathes (programming would be an advantage but not essential).
