The role of risk management within the Maternity Department is to support clinical staff to deliver safe care to women and babies and ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors through robust risk management processes underpinning a learning culture, You will be the expert for the Trust providing support, expert advice and guidance to the division. You will lead the implementation of the National Patient Safety strategy for maternity services, including the recently implemented Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSFIR).
You will be responsible for the leadership and line management of the Maternity Patient Safety and Risk Team, in the development of key maternity patient safety systems and processes.
Responsible for ensuring patient safety assurance meetings are effective. That their respective governance reports and data flows effectively from ward to board to allow patient safety information to be accessible in a way that allows trends and learning to be identified and acted on with ease. Also, jointly responsible for raising the profile of Patient Safety within the organisation, providing a visible presence to frontline staff, with active participation in the work of the LMNS, Integrated Care System (ICS), NHSI (NHS Improvement) and NHSE (NHS England).
Accountable for ensuring the statutory Duty of Candour requirements are met and that timely, and compassionate engagement with patients / their representatives takes place.
