Location: Somerset Heritage Centre, Brunel Way, Norton Fitzwarren, Taunton, TA2 6SF and Yeovil
Hours: 22.2 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
In this role, you will develop and deliver an ambitious programme that connects the local community in Yeovil and South Somerset with the South Somerset Heritage Collections, while also providing oversight of the collections to Museum Accreditation standards.
As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering Museum Services for Yeovil Town Council, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams within the South West Heritage Trust and working closely with external stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be:
* An excellent communicator with significant experience in community engagement projects and programme management.
* Skilled at developing and maintaining strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.
* Knowledgeable in museum collections management with a good understanding of the Arts Council England Museum Accreditation Scheme.
The South West Heritage Trust is an independent charity which provides heritage services across Somerset and Devon. We run two Archive and Local Studies services and three museums, including the Museum of Somerset, and look after Somerset's historic environment, including over 400 acres of historic landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide regular oversight of Yeovil Town Council's Heritage Coordinator's work programme, ensuring activities meet Arts Council England Museum Accreditation standards.
* Coordinate the development and delivery of the South Somerset Collections Forward Plan, ensuring the effective management of collections in collaboration with the Trust Museums Team.
* Oversee the Arts Council England Museum Accreditation returns and creation of associated documentation related to the South Somerset Collections in collaboration with the Trust's Museums Team.
* Plan and implement innovative and high-quality engagement activity in line with stakeholder and Trust strategic goals that connects communities with the South Somerset Heritage Collections.
* Establish and maintain stakeholder and partner relationships and support marketing and fundraising activity.
* Prepare funder reports and evaluation documentation to demonstrate project outcomes and compliance with funding requirements.
* Develop, create, manage and coordinate a programme of events, pop up exhibitions and activities in partnership with communities in South Somerset.
* Work closely with Yeovil Town Council, partners and Trust staff to create opportunities for museum collections to be experienced in a range of community settings.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of engagement activity, working in close collaboration with Yeovil Town Council, Trust staff, partner organisations and the Trust Programme Delivery Group.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of engagement activities and prepare evaluation reports for funders and stakeholders. Use quantitative and qualitative visitor feedback and targeted data collection to inform future work.
* Work closely with partner organisations and communities to generate creative outcomes including performances and digital resources.
* Support the generation of pop-up exhibitions and events in collaboration with community partners and curators.
