We are looking for a Sustainability Lead to join our team, you will have global responsibility for Sustainability programs for Raw materials and Circularity to deliver Sustainability quality, innovation, safety, compliance and ethics that differentiate M&S from the High Street.
To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

What you'll do
Your key accountabilities will include:
1. Balance and effectively manage technical responsibility for raw materials, traceability, circularity and waste with broader managerial responsibility across the Sustainability teams in UK and Overseas Sourcing offices.
2. Work with the Head of Material and Sustainability and RM technologists to develop the BU sustainability strategy putting the customer at the centre, whilst aligning to the commercial strategy for the BU / business area.
3. Drive partnerships with sustainability working groups, representing M&S externally (Textile Exchange, Textile 2030, LWG, SFA, CANOPY etc).
4. Coordinate reporting, data analysis and validation on priority raw materials to effectively measure progress against Clothing and Home's targets and share the results with the business and third-party verifiers.
5. Set and maintain Sustainability policy and standards across the C&H putting customer requirements at the centre of policy, and ensuring that these standards are frequently and clearly communicated to all stakeholders involved in the sourcing, design, product development and production processes (Buying Departments, Suppliers, Sourcing Offices).

Your skills and experience will include:
1. Ability to lead, coach and manage people to support development and drive success.
2. Ability to balance technical standards with the commercial needs of the business.
3. Expert in the field of Sustainability and Raw Material/Product.
4. Ability to provide technical leadership and direction across C&H Technical Function, Design and Buying, Supply Base and Global Sourcing Offices.
5. Analytical skills, championing and leveraging M&S' data (CIU, Bizarre Voice, QPI's, PLM) to shape future strategy.
