Main Purpose of Job
To effectively deliver the main responsibilities and key result areas within the deputy manager role. Ensuring effective service delivery with a view to supporting the positive development of the children/young people, staff, service and organisation. To promote the ethos and values of Dimensions care. To work in line with the DDP model of care. To work with each individual young person in a trauma informed way and support and promote the staff to do the same.
The expectation will be 190 hours a month of a mix between shifts, office hours and sleep ins.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Understand the needs of each young person, their history and trauma.
* Promote a positive open and reflective culture within the home.
* Promote a culture which actively supports the positive holistic development of the children/young people within the home.
* Ensure PACE is promoted throughout the home by all staff.
* Build and promote a positive safe environment where kids feel safe and secure, relationships are positive and focus is on children’s feelings and emotions rather than displayed behaviours.
* Work in line with the homes statement of purpose and Location risk assessment.
* Support with referrals and impact risk assessment for new young people.
* Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children/young people and ensure all care practitioners do the same.
* Report safeguarding concerns to manager, DSL, LADO, LA and safeguarding and ensure all records are complete.
* Report immediately any unsafe practices and conditions to the homes manager and follow the above process.
* Ensure the ongoing assessment of children and young people’s needs in day to day practice.
* Support with tasks within the home such as quality assurance and regulatory visits.
* Ensure all staff practice is in line with best practice and the children and young people’s Care and Placement Plans through supervisions.
* Actively promote structure, boundaries and routines within a safe and nurturing environment, being aware of the two hands of parenting.
* Take responsibility for the effective and efficient running of shifts including the planning and facilitation of activities, daily tasks and health and safety checks.
* Complete manager reflections/comments on all documents.
* Complete manager audits of files, medication, cash and environment.
* Provide a positive role model for the young people, presenting oneself in a highly professional manner.
* Work with the young people daily in a trauma informed way. Ensure that all care plans, reports reflect the model of care used.
* Ensure the delivery of all key worker areas and responsibilities including delivery of direct work. Personal Development and reflective work is a huge part of Dimensions care.
* Represent the home at reviews and or meetings.
* Undertake relevant training programmes as required by governing regulation, guidance, and the Company.
* At all times promote and ensure anti-discriminatory practices.
* Oversee, supervise, appraise and develop the skills of staff in their working practice.
* Work in partnership and develop professional working relationships with colleagues, other agencies and professionals to meet the needs of young people and their families.
* Fulfil sleep-in duties in accordance with the agreed rota.
* Show a willingness to undertake appropriate training as part of overall professional development.
* Carry out any other reasonable and relevant duties as required including managing in the absence of the homes registered manager.
* Gain an understanding of KPIs.
* Regulatory and Administrative duties.
* Ensure effective service delivery in line with the policies and procedures of the Home and the Company.
* Work in accordance with the Children’s Homes Regulations, other statutory guidance, and cooperate with any inspection process.
* Oversee, write and edit all reports when submitted for meetings and reviews ensuring they reflect the DDP model.
* Monitor and maintain administrative requirements ensuring compliance with policy and regulation.
* Take responsibility for having sound working knowledge of key policies and procedures including Safeguarding, Fire and Health and Safety Procedures at your place of work.
A full UK driving license is essential for all roles.

Level 3 - Working with Children, Young People & Families Practitioner: Residential or equivalent is essential.
