If you're passionate about our water environment and want to make a difference to the quality of our rivers in Kent, South London, and East Sussex (KSLES), then this might be the perfect role for you.
We're looking for an individual with excellent planning, communication, and data handling skills to help identify, plan, and influence the delivery of water quality improvement actions.
The successful candidate will work on a variety of aspects of water quality planning to understand the risks, find solutions, and work with those who can effect change. They will review and advise stakeholders' plans, providing technical advice to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
They will also be required to understand, analyze, and translate a variety of information into evidence that can inform and influence decisions by technical and non-technical audiences.
The team:
The Integrated Environment Planning team is a friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable team divided into two main workstreams; Water Quality and Catchment Planning. We work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to ensure our data is accurate and to bring together a wide range of evidence to support the identification of environmental improvement opportunities across the area.
Experience/skills required:
* Knowledge and experience of working with external partners, influencing decisions, and demonstrating leadership.
* Analyzing large data sets to make evidence-led decisions (experience of statistical packages is desirable).
* Ability to communicate technical data to a range of audiences.
* Understanding of water quality legislation, policy, strategy, and permitting.
* Understanding of water quality modeling techniques.
* Awareness of how water quality is impacted by wider environmental pressures.
Essential: A degree in a relevant environmental discipline or equivalent experience.
Desirable: Membership of, or working towards a membership of, a relevant professional institute (e.g., CIWEM).
