Applications are invited for a Senior Mechanical Workshop Technician. You will play a critical role in supporting the mechanical workshops operations. This role requires an experienced individual to operate, maintain and oversee the use of various metal working machinery, including both manual and CNC equipment. You will provide expert advice on mechanical design, interpret and create complex mechanical drawings from designs and mentor junior staff.
About you
Applicants must hold a formal qualification in a relevant field e.g., City and Guilds, BTEC, HNC and a recognized apprenticeship in an appropriate subject. You will have extensive experience in high precision machining in a research or high precision manufacturing environment. You will be proficient as both a manual and CNC machinist, and proven experience with CAD including the creation and modification of assemblies and components to suit manufacturing needs. You have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate mechanical concepts clearly to staff and students who have no mechanical background.
