Job Description
Summary
The role of the EHS Manager is to provide primary accountability at the site level for Health and Safety performance and to assist with site implementation of other Operational Risk initiatives (including Environmental, Facility security and Business Continuity). This includes:
1. Functional management and technical skills to mitigate business risk associated with health and safety performance and legislative compliance.
2. Performance monitoring and leadership of continuous improvement in these areas in line with Heinz global expectations and accepted international best practice.
3. Associated cost benefit/avoidance.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensuring suitable and adequate systems (for example policies, management systems, internal and equipment controls) are competently applied across all departments.
* Assuring compliance with legislative and corporate requirements.
* Regular audits completed and risks identified/quantified and communicated to management.
* Appropriate action plans implemented to mitigate risk/loss.
* Suitable plans implemented for emergency preparedness/response.
* EHS teams and operational management suitably informed and advised.
* Ensuring suitable systems are implemented and maintained across the site.
* Ensure site safety rules plan is prioritized based on risk and fully implemented on time.
About you
* 2 years’ experience in EHS or safety management or in a related field in a processing or manufacturing environment.
* Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies (i.e. city/district/regional councils, Worksafe NZ).
* Experience in EHS Auditing.
* Understanding of legal systems, regulatory enforcement processes and relevant legislation.
* Strong literacy in computers and IT systems.
* University graduation in a professional technical discipline – e.g. engineering/science, supplemented with courses in safety, industrial hygiene, environment (desired).
* Diplomas in Occupational Safety and Health with appropriate experience (desired).
* Understanding and experience with Safety Management Systems (e.g. ACC Partnership Programme, AS/NZS 4801, OHSAS 18001, Heinz Safety Process) and/or other management systems (e.g. ISO9001, ISO14001) (desired).
