We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to drive engineering projects from conception to implementation. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will provide expert guidance to Departmental Managers on plant performance and operational issues.
Reporting into the Head of Engineering, this is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact by improving processes, ensuring safety, and enhancing efficiency across our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and execute engineering projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
2. Conduct Safety & Operability Reviews for all projects.
3. Define project objectives by assessing proposals, liaising with management, and setting clear deliverables.
4. Manage project phases by allocating resources, reviewing contractor bids, and ensuring adherence to performance standards.
5. Assess Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) to support investment decisions.
6. Oversee project specifications, conducting feasibility studies and preparing cost estimates.
7. Design and execute performance tests to validate project outcomes.
8. Develop and monitor project schedules, ensuring timely delivery and resolving any issues proactively.
9. Control budgets by managing expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
10. Track project progress and produce regular status reports with data-driven insights.
11. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process optimisation and leading root cause analysis for breakdowns and other issues.
12. Maintain a safe and compliant work environment by enforcing company policies, food safety and legal requirements.
13. Keep accurate records by managing project databases and ensuring data integrity.
Qualifications & Skills
1. Degree in an engineering discipline OR time-served apprenticeship with expertise in electrical/mechanical/FMCG operations.
2. Strong technical knowledge, including Requirements Analysis, Design Skills, and Manufacturing Processes.
3. Experience in Project Management, Process Improvement, and Safety Management.
4. Proficiency in CAD, CAD/CAM, and Circuit Design.
5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
