The Surgical, Critical and Emergency Care Division is currently recruiting an Admin Manager to lead the Plastic Surgery administration team. The team is varied, looking after the sarcoma cancer pathway as well as involvement in the skin cancer pathway as well as managing a mix of routine pathways and reconstruction from other departments. The Plastic Surgery department is very busy, with activity happening across multiple locations (Outpatients, APU, Theatres as well as other trusts). In this role, you will manage the administrative team with the assistance of the deputy admin manager as well as working closely with the operational team and theatres to fully utilize our large footprint and ensure we continue to provide an excellent service to our patients. This role will require an in depth understanding of patient pathways and the current needs and asks of the Trust including cancer wait times and an interest in the up-and-coming Electronic Patient Record (EPR) implementation. You will need to demonstrate your management skills as will as experience in managing teams and processes.
* If you currently work for the NHS and would like to be considered for a secondment, please seek approval from your current line manager prior to submitting your application., Manage the day-to-day running of the Directorate's administrative staff and resolving any issues that arise. This will include the authorising of annual leave and study leave.
* Monitor workloads and allocate work according to staffing levels and adjust these during periods of sickness or unexpected changes in workload
* To be responsible for the recruitment of secretarial staff, devising adverts and job descriptions, short-listing, interviewing, chairing the interview panel and advising the Divisional Operational Manager on appointments
* Undertake appraisals on the secretaries and clerical support staff and formulating PDP plans, including the identification of training needs and to provide opportunities for staff to undergo relevant training
* Ensure that all clinical sessions are allocated adequate clerical staff and ensure training is provided where appropriate.
