We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5-6 Annex Occupational Therapist Post to work into our team at North Tyneside General Hospital. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide efficient and effective facilitation of the patient journey within the inpatient setting to achieve safe and timely discharge, seamless transitions, and help avoid unnecessary admission and re-admission to hospital.
Progression from a Band 5-6 will take place following the completion of additional competencies and training over a 24 month period.
This post falls within the provisions of Agenda for Change Annex 20 - Development of Professional Roles, whereby upon completion of an agreed set of competencies you may move onto the next pay band without the need for an application for a post at a higher level.

Key Responsibilities:
1. To ensure service provision is prioritised and service delivery is made effectively within resource constraints.
2. To deliver a comprehensive service for a complex case load.
3. To manage a defined caseload of patients, using evidence based clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
4. To assess for and monitor the provision of adaptations when appropriate.
5. To provide clinical education, supervision and support to staff and students within the specialist field.
6. To provide specialist advice to families, carers, and other health and social care professionals.
7. To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of OT services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects through specialist interest and steering groups.
8. To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy Team across Northumbria Healthcare Trust.
9. To practice within the multidisciplinary team, providing specialist Occupational Therapy assessments, diagnosis and treatment using clinical reasoning skills.
10. To work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide efficient and effective facilitation of the patient journey through hospital and in community, to achieve safe and timely discharge, seamless transitions and help avoid unnecessary admission and re admission to hospital.
11. To carry out appraisals with junior and support staff, as delegated by Line Manager.
12. Managerially responsible to Team Lead.
13. Clinically responsible to clinical OT Lead.
14. To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.
