Parkinson Lee Executive Search have partnered with one of Yorkshire’s key public sector organisations to recruit the role of Interim Finance Controller.
This Interim Finance Controller will be required for an initial period of 6 months, providing cover whilst changes in the team and permanent recruitment takes place. As acting Finance Controller you will play a key role within the leadership team and partner with senior stakeholders across the organisation, ensuring financial integrity remains across a number of high-profile projects.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading the production of key financial reports for senior management and the executive team, including revenue budget monitoring, supporting the production of 2024/25 draft accounts, and presenting financial data and insights clearly to colleagues, partners, and other key stakeholders across the organisation.
2. Ensuring the successful upload of the 2025/26 revenue budget into the finance system and effectively communicating it to budget holders.
3. Overseeing the allocation and monitoring of resources, including grants, reserves, and capital programme funding.
4. Managing the completion and submission of statistical returns and grant funding bids, ensuring deadlines and key milestones are met.
5. Monitoring and tracking grant and other income streams and coordinating the preparation of returns for approval by the Director of Finance.
6. Providing leadership and direction to a small team, managing two direct reports.
7. Collaborating with colleagues in other departments and external stakeholders as required.
Parkinson Lee Executive Search are keen to speak with people that have demonstrable skills and experience in the following areas, in addition to being both available at short notice and committed to the contract term:
1. Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA) with significant post qualification experience in financial management within a public sector environment such as emergency services, local government or the NHS.
2. Strong reporting skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
3. Ability to manage budgets, grants, and funding streams effectively.
4. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
5. Experience in leading and developing a team.
Our client offers:
* A competitive Day Rate up to £700 per day (Inside IR35).
* Hybrid working, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the Sheffield office.
* An enhanced DBS check to be completed as part of the onboarding process.
* An immediate start preferably no later than early March 2025.
