Audit Professional Standards
The Audit Professional Standards team is Grant Thornton Ireland’s centre of technical excellence for audit, assurance and financial reporting. Drawing on our strong relationships with regulators, standard setters, the people in our firm and wider Grant Thornton International network, we provide innovative, practical and robust solutions to auditing and financial reporting matters in addition to annual training that support audit engagement teams with the delivery of high-quality audits for their clients.
Audit Methodology Team
The Audit Methodology team helps drive compliance with audit, assurance and related services (ARS), and review standards. The Audit Methodology team supports the audit practice with audit methodology related consultations, in-flight reviews of audit files, and is responsible for the development and/or maintenance of relevant policies, manuals, tools and templates.
Roles and responsibilities include:
* Responding to methodology queries and supporting the methodology consultation process.
* Localising and maintaining audit and ARS manuals and associated mappings.
* Preparing and maintaining guidance materials, including practice aids and templates, as resources for audit teams, including delivery of training on these when required.
* Supporting the ongoing implementation of the firm’s new audit software tool and other new audit support technologies.
* Conducting in-flight reviews of audit files to monitor compliance with relevant standards and firm policies.
* Building strong working relationships with the audit practice and other departments as required.
* Lending expertise to external regulatory reviews.
* Support the Audit Learning & Development team in the delivery of training to auditors.
* Developing and implementing policies and monitoring ongoing compliance.
Essential experience and skills:
* Qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years of audit experience.
* Experience in a management role.
* Strong interest in auditing standards and quality.
* Self-starter with the ability and confidence to execute their own projects and workload.
* Strong business writing and communication skills.
* Ability to be agile and respond in a proactive manner.
* Strong interpersonal skills and a good team player, including the ability to collaborate with other functional groups.
* Good organisation and time management skills, and an ability to manage multiple projects.
Desirable experience and skills:
* Financial services experience.
* Experience in performance of group audit engagements.
* Previous experience working in a technical audit role.
* Previous experience in the development or delivery of learning.
