About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a variety of needs, including autism, ADHD, global developmental delay, and behavioural or emotional challenges. You will work under the guidance of the SENCO and classroom teachers, ensuring all students have equal access to learning and feel safe and supported in the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and group-based support tailored to pupils' learning plans.
* Help implement EHCP targets, differentiated instruction, and behavioural strategies.
* Support pupils in developing communication, self-regulation, and social skills.
* Collaborate with teachers and external professionals to ensure best practices in inclusive education.
* Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
* Promote a positive and respectful classroom culture that values diversity and inclusion.
* Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour for reporting purposes.
Job Requirements:
* Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is essential.
* Knowledge of a range of SEN conditions and the ability to apply appropriate support strategies.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support pupil development.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
* A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant or SEN-specific training) is preferred.
* Understanding of safeguarding procedures and a proactive approach to student welfare.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
