Job Responsibilities
Are you a qualified Nurse? Are you interested in or do you have experience within Infection Prevention? If so, Nuffield Health has the opportunity for you. Together with the Director of Clinical Service (DCS) in the role of Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) for the Hospital, you will be operationally responsible for the day-to-day management of Infection Prevention and Control for the hospital. In this role, you will work 30 hours per week as the Infection Prevention Co-ordinator (IPC) for the hospital. The successful candidate will be funded to attend the Nuffield Health IPC Course run by de Montfort University resulting in Level 6 credits and will then work with the DIPC to lead on IP for the hospital. IP responsibilities will include practical IP training to both clinical and non-clinical staff, uploading of IP data to the UKHSA database, investigating any infections at the site (with department leads), identifying areas for improvements in care, and chairing the monthly hospital HCAI group and supporting the DIPC to prepare for the quarterly IP&C Committee meetings. There is also an opportunity in the longer term to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to become an Infection Prevention Specialist Nurse. No experience is necessary in Infection Prevention as all training and support will be provided, but a keen interest in IP and an ability to work independently are essential. The friendly nursing team consists of nurses with a background of all different surgical specialities and there is a culture of strong teamwork and supporting each other. The senior nursing team strongly believes in personal & professional development and actively encourages staff to partake in annual appraisals and to develop themselves through attendance at study days, learning new clinical skills and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
