Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly creative Print & Textiles Design Assistant to join our dynamic Textiles team. In this fast-paced and multifaceted role, you will primarily assist with all aspects of placement print development, while also contributing to repeat prints, fabric, and embroidery developments for our seasonal ranges and special projects.
This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and colour, excellent organisational skills, and a aptitude for juggling multiple creative projects. A love for all things beautiful and a commitment to delivering high-quality designs, strong painting and Photoshop skills are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
* Conducting visual research, painting, and drawing around a given theme for use in prints, jacquards, embroidery, and special projects.
* Assisting with design development for placement prints, repeats, embroidery, and jacquards, producing relevant design options to present to senior designers and the creative director.
* Creating placement print artworks and cutting instructions for suppliers for sampling and production.
* Recolouring prints, creating repeats, and providing other technical assistance within print and fabric development.
* Working with graded patterns to adapt sampling print placement artworks for production.
* Checking print files to ensure accuracy and prevent mistakes in fabric production.
* Ensuring print, fabric, and embroidery names and codes on the line sheet are correct and consistent with the sampling fabric overview to enable a smooth transition from sampling to production.
* Assisting with the clear communication of creative and technical ideas to fabric mills and suppliers.
The ideal candidate:
* A textile design graduate with at least one year of relevant industry experience (including internships). BA, MA, or an equivalent qualification in Fashion Textiles Design.
* Competent in hand drawing and painting.
* Highly organised, with a luxury handwriting in design and colour.
* Possesses an in-depth technical understanding of textile design processes, including print, embroidery, and woven jacquards.
* Advanced skills in Adobe Photoshop. Proficiency in Illustrator and InDesign is a plus.
