Mentus recruitment are proudly working with a leading health care provider to seek an Deputy Hospital Manager. The private hospital provides specialist eating disorder services for young people aged 13- 18 years whose needs can no longer be met in the community. Job Purpose Reporting into the Hospital Director, the Deputy Manager is an integral part of the Senior Management Team and is responsible for the business, clinical and support services aspects of the service. The post holder will ensure the highest level of patient care is provided and will be, jointly with the hospital director, responsible for the financial viability of the hospital. 1. To assist in the management of the service and always maintain its safe and effective operation, reporting directly to the Clinical Director. 2. To work within a flexible 24-hour rota system including evenings, weekends, and occasional nights. The post holder will be expected to work 40 hours per week. 3. Alongside the hospital director, manages the delivery of the business plan ensuring the effective and efficient management and control of staffing, budgets, materials and equipment. 4. Promotes an effective working relationship across the multidisciplinary and support services teams and responsible for ensuring that the clinical team are using systems effectively and are rostering at least 8 weeks in advance. 5. Ensures compliance with CQC standards and leads on notifications of incidents. 6. Works jointly with the hospital director in maintaining positive relationships with commissioners, clinical teams on NHS wards and community teams to obtain business and keep hospital occupancy full. Main Tasks: Clinical 1. Ensure that individual needs of the service users are met on a day-to-day basis and that appropriate meetings (e.g., CPA, GP, Case reviews, etc) are held. 2. Ensure that a continual handover is received from the clinical team regarding all clinical issues, including any safeguarding incidents or other incidents that may increase risk and impact on clinical need. 3. Undertake regular (where practicable, daily) review of any incidents within the service, referring any concerns to the Registered Manager. 4. Ensure that the Registered Manager is kept fully informed, in a timely manner, of all clinical issues on-going within the service. 5. Ensure that the Registered Manager is fully aware of all incidents within the service which require notification to external agencies, under the Care Act 2014 and any other applicable legislation. 6. In agreement with the Registered Manager, attend any external meetings relating to safeguarding or other incidents which could adversely affect service user care. 7. Alongside the Registered Manager, work with other professional colleagues, purchasers, and commissioners to ensure that the service users best interests are identified, and plans are established to meet them. 8. Under the direction of the Registered Manager, play a key role in governance, including participation in a rolling audit programme to ensure quality standards are regularly monitored, and any resulting actions are implemented and monitored. 9. Ensures clinical services comply with best practice, statutory regulations and current legislation and deliver against key performance indicators 10. Assists with ensuring that the hospital operates with a culture of continuous improvement and to lead on this. Resource Management 1. Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the staff team, including addressing in a timely manner any performance concerns and referring any issues to be dealt with under formal HR policies and procedures to the Registered Manager for guidance. 2. Under the direction of the Registered Manager, be involved in the recruitment of new staff to the service. 3. Ensure that all new staff within the service receive a thorough local induction in accordance with the organisations Induction Policy. Staff Training and Development 1. Identifies staff training needs and support with their development. 2. Alongside the Registered Manager, coordinate training within the service ensuring that all staff are allocated to and undertake all the training requirements of their role. 3. Work with the Registered Manager and staff team to ensure that all staff receive regular and meaningful supervision relating to their individual development needs. 4. Undertake direct supervisor responsibility for junior staff as agreed with the Registered Manager. 5. Work with the Registered Manager and staff team to ensure that all staff receive annual development reviews. 6. Undertake annual development reviews with junior staff as agreed with the Registered Manager. Other duties: 1. Leadership in inspections and contract review meetings when required 2. Always promote and encourage effective communication and teamwork. 3. Take a lead role in staff and service user meetings. 4. Maintain a clean and suitable environment, including monitoring services provided by other departments, ensuring that all equipment, furniture and fittings are kept in good order. 5. Attend meetings representing the Hospital Director. 6. Provide written reports as required. 7. If required, participate in a Manager on Call rota in line with our clients policy and procedure. 8. Encourage service users and carers to give feedback. 9. Alongside the Registered Manager, manage any complaints in accordance our clients policy and procedure, ensuring that service users have access to the procedure and are supported in this process, referring all issues to the Registered Manager. 10.
