What's involved with this role: Interim Qualified Lawyer (Litigation) (ASC Debt) Reference no: Leicester 0009 DE97 / 1 Pay Rate: up to £35.45 per hour PAYE max 37 Monday - Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for 1-2 months City: Leicester Remote/ Hybrid - Must be able to collect laptop and equipment on the first day from City Hall. We require a candidate with ASC debt experience to cover the work currently being dealt with by the outgoing QL. If they have general civil experience too that would be helpful You will manage ASC debt cases, providing legal advice, preparing documents, and representing the organization in hearings. This locum role offers additional support for the department's litigation workload. Key duties: Manage a complex caseload of Adult Social Care (ASC) debt cases, including unpaid service charges for care services, providing legal advice, and resolving issues efficiently. Conduct detailed assessments and investigations into ASC debt cases, evaluating financial and legal circumstances, and monitoring case progress to ensure timely resolutions. Perform complex legal research and analyze relevant data to inform decisions in line with ASC debt legislation, local authority policies, and current best practices. Draft high-quality legal documents, including pleadings, reports, and correspondence, ensuring full compliance with ASC debt legal requirements and regulations. Stay updated on emerging legislation and best practices in adult social care, addressing complex disputes, and representing the organization effectively in hearings related to ASC debt recovery. Key requirements: Qualified Solicitor or Barrister, with valid practicing certificate. In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, legal procedures, and best practices within the litigation field. Proven experience in managing a complex caseload and handling disputes or conflicts efficiently. Extensive experience in litigation, particularly in ASC debt or related areas. Excellent legal research and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex cases and make informed decisions. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to draft high-quality legal documents and reports. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
