Grower Manager
?? Location: East Yorkshire (commutable from York, Hull, Goole, Selby, Beverley, Market Weighton, Holme-Upon-Spalding-Moor)
?? Salary: Up to £45,000 DOE + Benefits
?? Work Pattern: 5 days per week (including weekends on a rota basis)

Are you an experienced Grower Manager looking for an exciting opportunity in fresh produce and horticulture? Our client is seeking a passionate and hands-on leader to oversee crop production, ensuring efficiency, quality, and food safety while leading a dedicated team. Working closely with the Works Manager, Growing Consultant, and Operations Director, you'll play a key role in horticultural operations, ensuring crops are grown to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
? Crop Production & Planning
Manage and oversee the growing process to meet production targets.
Implement climate control and fertigation strategies to optimise yields.
Conduct crop walks, scouting for pests and diseases, and implement disease control measures.
Work closely with the Operations team to ensure growing houses are filled, transferred, and emptied efficiently.
? Leadership & Team Development
Train and mentor the growing team on disease control, crop husbandry, and best practices.
Supervise and motivate staff to achieve growing KPIs.
Promote and enforce health & safety and food hygiene standards on-site.
? Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Attend daily farm walks and weekly planning meetings with key stakeholders.
Report on KPI figures and implement improvements where necessary.
Support the harvesting team during peak seasons.
Enforce GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and ensure compliance with food safety and industry regulations.
What You'll Need:
? Essential:
Experience in growing, horticulture, or fresh produce farming.
Background in agriculture or a related field (Degree in Agriculture or Horticulture preferred).
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
IT proficiency, including MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Ability to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
? Desirable:
Food hygiene & HACCP qualification.
Experience in a chilled, fast-paced FMCG environment.
Knowledge of BRC standards and retailer audit protocols.
A sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
