The Role
Level 3 - Teaching Assistant Full Time
Permanent 37 hours per week term time only - Start Date 28th October 2024. Working hours are Mon – Thurs 8.30am – 4.30pm & Friday 8.30am – 3.55pm.
Grade 5 SCP 8-14 Salary £21,248 to £23,512 Term Time Only pro rata depending on hours.
Fox Wood is a school for pupils with ASD, and with Severe and Profound Multiple Learning difficulties. The school continues to grow and flourish and the governors are therefore delighted to advertise the opportunity for the right candidates to join our dedicated team.
A vacancy exists in our school/college to provide support for our pupils.
Responsibilities
The person appointed will:
1. Have experience of working with children with special educational needs.
2. Have experience of supporting pupils who may exhibit challenging behaviour.
3. Have experience of de-escalation strategies, and training in the use of Positive Handling strategies.
4. Be willing to undertake additional training (including becoming an accredited Team-Teach Trainer).
5. Be a team player with a good sense of humour, who is able to lead and support their peers.
6. Have a sensitive but enthusiastic approach.
7. Have high expectations of learners.
8. Have well developed communication skills, both with children and adults.
Experience of the following would also be advantageous:
1. ASD, SLD or PMLD.
2. A general understanding of Speech and Language difficulties.
3. Supporting those with visual impairments.
4. Supporting those with Sensory Needs.
