ABP in Bridge of Allan are looking for someone to join the team in Despatch.
Role Definition:
To carry out all activities and roles within Despatch in line with individual training matrix and as requested by the Despatch Supervisor
Reporting to :
This position reports to the Despatch Supervisor
Duties & Responsibilities
* Prepare pallets of stock for delivery/loading onto the trailers and responsible for ensuring product is built and wrapped in the best possible condition for the customer.
* To ensure all tasks performed are as per training given and comply with safe working procedures
* Load and unload vehicles and trailers with fresh meat produce.
* Reach truck operation required to store pallets from production and drop pallets for order picking from racking system. Full training to be given on completion of probation period.
* Ensure customer orders are filled correctly, strict rotation of stock and correct loading of trailers.
* Ensure thorough checks are made on date codes.
* Have a competent level of arithmetic to ensure all stock is scanned correctly on pallets. Attention to detail is essential.
* Responsible for booking in/out of product.
* Being able to work in a fast paced environment when required.
* Liaise effectively with the team and the Sales Department.
* Stacking trays/boxes onto pallets from the abattoir production line
* Assist fridge staff as and when required.
* Carry out and complete daily forklift inspection reports.
* Responsible for keeping the loading bay in a clean and tidy condition.
* Provide a polite and efficient service for calling customers.
* Communicate well with the Despatch Supervisor and all other team members at all times
* Training and Development - To help the Supervisor identify training needs and opportunities by highlighting your own needs at appraisals.
* To work to agreed training plan, bringing any skill shortfalls/difficulties to the attention of the Supervisor.
* Ensure understanding of expected standards and targets before commencing any task.
* To carry out all assigned tasks in accordance with company policies and procedures, particularly with regard to Health and Safety and Food Safety.
* To ensure that where PPE is provided for any of the above task, that it is correctly worn/used, maintained and any defects reported to the relevant key colleagues.
* To have a flexible approach to workloads/hours to ensure agreed throughput and yield targets are met.
* To report any problems regarding equipment/machinery to management.
* Adhere to Company hygiene practices & safe food production at all time.
* To comply with health & safety policy at all times to prevent / minimise the risk of accidents.
* Any other duties as required
Qualifications and Experience:
* The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role
* They will also preferably have a forklift license
