A community run SEN school in Brixton are looking to add to their team for 2025 as they expand their provision for their school. This outstanding Ofsted rated school is looking for an SEN teacher to teach year 7 students specifically in a static, or primary format. This means, the students will stay in the classroom as they adjust to moving into the secondary phase of education. Having an environment that continues to be familiar to them, will allow this transition to be easier for the students as they enter this new key stage.

Are you a compassionate and dedicated teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of children? We are seeking a Special Educational Needs, SEN Teacher for a vibrant primary school in Brixton, specialising in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) in Year 7. The students are working from a curriculum that is student-centred, with a focus on choices, independence and the world around them.
In this rewarding SEN Teacher role, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment tailored to the unique needs of each student that has begun their transition into secondary school. Your expertise as a KS2 Teacher or Year 7 Teacher will help develop individualised learning plans that promote engagement, independence, and social skills, whilst preparing them for a big change and the opportunity to gain independence.
The School
The successful Year 7 Teacher applicant would be joining an outstanding SEN school in Brixton for children with severe learning difficulties. This SEN school offers provision for pupils from 4-19 years old. The school provides a range of unique enabling environments, both indoor and outdoor, which are used to maximise learning opportunities and meet pupil's specific needs and allows the students to gain independence and life skills.
SEN Teacher Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement personalised educational programs based on a curriculum with three various pathways.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and educational psychologists.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting approaches as the SEN teacher in the classroom.
- Engage with parents and caregivers to support student development at home and in school.
- Work with and lead a support team within the classroom
SEN Teacher Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of ASD and SLD.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A passion to provide inclusive education for all.
