The Company and Role An exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement Manager to lead and optimise the supply chain for a growing manufacturing company has arisen. The successful candidate will manage and coordinate the efficient and cost-effective supply of materials, components, and services while ensuring business targets are achieved. This role requires close collaboration with key internal departments, as well as the leadership and development of a dedicated purchasing team. Key Responsibilities • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to deliver cost savings and maintain quality standards. • Manage a portfolio of suppliers, ensuring timely and efficient product flow. • Develop and monitor departmental KPIs to measure performance and identify improvement opportunities. • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, and delivery capabilities. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across purchasing processes. • Develop and implement effective procurement strategies for materials, supplies, and services. • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and reliability. • Collaborate with production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure materials are available on time. • Monitor and forecast demand to balance supply needs and minimize excess inventory. • Mentor and coach the purchasing team, fostering a culture of excellence and improvement. • Optimize procurement and inventory costs while meeting delivery and budget requirements. • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards and support environmental management initiatives. Required Skills and Experience • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in procurement and supply chain management within a manufacturing environment. • CIPS Level 6: Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply (or equivalent). • At least 10 years of experience in a senior purchasing or procurement role, with a proven track record in team leadership. • Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated success in achieving favourable terms. • Proficient in ERP and MRP systems, with a strong understanding of modern procurement techniques. • Experience implementing lean processes and driving continuous improvement. • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels. • Comprehensive knowledge of supply chain and logistics management. • High-level recognition of components and materials used in manufacturing. • Commitment to environmental sustainability and experience in "greening" the supply chain.
