Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join the Critical Care and Surgery Therapy team at Peterborough City Hospital. The ideal candidate will have a strong teamwork ethic, a kind and caring nature, and a willingness to learn and develop. You will need to be motivated, flexible, and adaptable, assisting with a range of patients throughout the acute hospital setting while demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The Role Involves:
* Supporting patients with exercise programmes and mobility.
* Assisting therapists with discharge planning.
* Completing functional tasks to support the patient in returning to their previous level of function.
* Administrative duties.
* Undertaking visits to patients' homes to assess their discharge needs.
* Assessment, practice, and provision of equipment.
We will provide the necessary support, supervision, and training to ensure your development within your role. This post is 37.5 hours working Monday to Friday, with some weekend working expected.

Interviews for this role will be conducted in person to assess relevant skills effectively.
This role requires the ability to travel between sites. A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle may be necessary for this role. However, reasonable adjustments will be considered for candidates who can meet the travel requirements through alternative means.
Main duties of the job:
* To undertake assessments and treatments for patients that have been triaged by a Therapist and deemed appropriate for Therapy Assistant Practitioner intervention with case management advice available via indirect and direct contact with a registered therapist.
* To carry own caseload of non-complex patients assessing, according to competencies, and devising and implementing treatment programmes.
* To work collaboratively within Multidisciplinary and Multi-agency teams with the aim of supporting timely discharge.
* To enable patients, their families, and carers in the attainment of their rehabilitation goals by providing treatment programmes developed and monitored by Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists in supervision.
* To deliver safe, efficient, and effective patient-focused care in line with local standards.
* To be actively involved in the in-service training programme, including the mentoring and training of Band 2 and 3 therapy assistants and supporting students as required.
* To participate in the provision of 7-day services as required.
* To adhere to the Trust's values and behaviours.

Qualifications - Essential:
* NVQ III in Diagnostics & Therapeutics or relevant qualification.
* Evidence of relevant short courses and in-service training attended.
* English and Maths GCSE grade 4 or functional skills level 2.
Experience - Essential:
* A minimum of 2 years working in a Therapy support worker role.
* Experience of working with IT.
* Evidence of significant relevant experience in working with patients within an acute setting.
Knowledge - Essential:
* Understanding of the OT and PT role in the acute / Health & Social care setting.
* Understanding of long-term conditions.
Key Skills/Abilities - Essential:
* Excellent written communication.
* Ability to communicate effectively using verbal and nonverbal communication, including effective listening skills.
* Confident and competent in patient moving/handling tasks, including safe practice in the use of equipment.
* Able to undertake specialist treatment programmes/techniques without direct supervision.
