Front-End Engineer for Data Visualization Platform Development

We are looking for a skilled front-end engineer to design and develop an interactive platform for visualizing and exploring factors that shape the global equity of language-based Artificial Intelligence (AI). This platform will feature a world map with zoom functionality, enabling users to explore country-specific data through an engaging and intuitive interface. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers at the intersection of social and computer sciences to bring this innovative project to life.
Key Responsibilities
* Design & Development: Build an elegant, user-friendly platform and website.
* Interactive Visualizations: Create dynamic map-based visuals with seamless zoom and country-specific data displays.
* Responsive Design: Ensure compatibility across devices and browsers.
* Collaboration: Work closely with researchers to align the design with project goals.
* Integration: Handle basic back-end tasks or coordinate with our back-end team.
Required Skills
* Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and visualization libraries or frameworks (e.g., React, Mapbox, MapLibre).
* Familiarity with UX/UI principles and responsive web design.
* Experience with CSS animations and interactive visual elements.
* Understanding of basic back-end technologies (Node.js, Python, PHP) is a plus.
Ideal Candidate
* A degree (or current study) in AI, Computer Science, or a related STEM field, or equivalent professional experience.
* Strong web design skills and a keen eye for detail.
* Self-motivated and efficient, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Commitment
* Start Date: February 2025 or ASAP.
* Duration: 3 full-time or up to 6 months part-time.
* Time Commitment: Full-time preferred but part-time considered for exceptional candidates.
* Salary range: £41,421-£55,295
