Our Values: Job Summary The Health Care Assistant (HCA) will play a key role in supporting both administrative and clinical functions within the Confederation sites. This dual role involves assisting with administrative duties which would include but are not limited to, managing GP clinics on clinical system, chaperoning, managing clinical waste, and stock control. They will also be required to support a variety of service clinics. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, the ability to multitask, and a compassionate approach to patient care. Key Responsibilities Administrative Duties: Reception/Administrative: Greet, assist, and arrive patients. Schedule appointments and manage the patient booking system - EMIS. Answer phone calls and handle patient enquiries efficiently. Maintain patient records and ensure accurate data entry. Complete any tasks back to practice Setting up of the clinical rooms at the start and end of the day Provide support and comfort to patients during examinations and procedures. Ensure patient privacy and dignity. Assist clinicians with setting up and preparing for procedures. Safely dispose of clinical waste in accordance with health and safety regulations All clinical rooms have a clinical waste bin Ensure all clinical waste bins are regularly emptied and cleaned Monitor and manage medical supplies and equipment supplies. Order and replenish stock as needed to ensure clinic operations run smoothly. Conduct regular checks of stock levels and expiry dates. Clinical Duties: As a Healthcare Assistant (HCA), you will play a vital role in supporting a range of clinical services, including Health Checks, ECGs, Phlebotomy, and Warfarin management, with the scope of services expanding as new ones are introduced. This role requires prior experience in providing these types of appointments or a willingness to undertake training to develop the necessary skills. You will be expected to perform activities typical of HCAs within these services, ensuring high standards of patient care and demonstrating adaptability to evolving clinical demands. If not currently held, candidates must be willing to study and complete the Care Certificate within 6 months if full-time (or a proportional period if part-time), as part of the probation period. Experience: Ideally, candidates will have at least 6 months of experience in a patient-facing environment. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is preferred. Phlebotomy certification preferred. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Compassionate and patient-focused approach. Experience undertaking NHS health checks or a willingness to undertake training.
