Job Description Job Title: Tooling Manager Working Pattern: Full time Working location: Derby, site-based role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Tooling, to join our ET&S team in Derby. As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will lead the Manufacturing Engineering activity for Tooling Design for Assembly, Disassembly and Ground Support of Civil Large Engines. You will act as the Technical Authority for a global network of tooling, ensuring that tooling is safe (both product and people) and meets customer requirements. Additionally, you will be responsible for the continued improvement of the tool design process, delivering year on year cost and efficiency savings. What you will be doing: With this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to be involved with the following: Manage and develop a specialist team of 20 ME’s who design large engines tooling across the whole product lifecycle (experimental, production and MRO). Ensure that all tools are designed to be in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme. Ensure that product safety risks are understood and mitigated appropriately. Technical Authority - Specify engineering requirements and make technical decisions in relation to tooling. Chair the Control Authority(s) governing change, subject to appropriate delegation. Where applicable, ensure tools are conforming to CE marking regulations. Ensure any tools manufactured using new methods of manufacture or that enable new methods of manufacture within the business are appropriately validated prior to deployment, and a full suite of fully validated tooling is delivered to market. Promote a culture of zero defects. Ensure that tool design follows a robust APQP process to support Right First-Time manufacture. Coach the community in the use of RRMS, DMAIC and Systems Engineering tools. Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards. Why Rolls-Royce? And for this role, we are looking for someone with: Professional experience as qualified Engineer (UK minimum BEng degree or other national equivalent) and UK CEng (Chartered Engineer) or other national equivalent, or working towards professional registration Good understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to their business and general awareness of Manufacturing Systems (CAD, CAM, CAPP, Manufacturing Execution System, Manufacturing Intelligence, SAP, Technical Publications, etc.) relevant to the business Significant experience in leading projects/activities across a range of Manufacturing Engineering processes Experience in manufacturing change in a suitable combination of ways, such as facility re-design, facility move, technology insertion, new product introduction, process revalidation, quality improvements.
