We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking psychotherapist, with excellent communication skills. The post holder will carry a full clinical caseload seeing patients under supervision for individual, brief, group psychoanalytic psychotherapy and assessing new referrals.
A major part of the role is the provision of individual once weekly psychotherapy. This means that applicants should be registered with either the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) or the UKCP cpja college to practice as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and must have experience of delivering this in NHS secondary care mental health services.
This service has strong ties with the NHS Departments of Psychotherapy in Derby, Leicester and Nottingham, particularly in respect of training NHS psychotherapists through the UKCP accredited collaborative South Trent (ST) Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work autonomously as a Senior Adult Psychotherapist delivering specialist psychodynamic psychotherapy to individuals and groups, assess for suitability for this treatment, supervise and support the treatment of patients by other psychological therapists by providing expert advice and clinical supervision, and offer specialist consultation, supervision and training to other clinicians across the Directorate of Adult Mental Health, as required.
The post holder will support teaching and training within the Service at introductory and intermediate levels and as competence develops take on greater responsibility for teaching. Under the direction of senior staff, offer supervision and consultation on therapeutic work undertaken across the Trust, and in Primary Care, Social Services and the Voluntary Sector.
To support senior staff in planning and providing clinical seminars on aspects of psychodynamic psychotherapy to clinicians undertaking training attachments to the Service, planning, organizing and leading other teaching and training activities of the Service such as workshops, conferences and lectures under the direction and supervision of senior staff.
