As the Senior Buyer your role is crucial in providing daily operational support to the Asset by taking the lead in the sourcing and procurement of materials and services in accordance with the annual business plan.
The role will interface with all of the relevant internal asset operational teams including HSEQ, Operations (inc. Subsea and Wells), Projects, Technical, Subsurface, HR and Finance, and will undertake procurement activities in full compliance with the Company Contracting & Procurement Procedure. This will include processing Purchase Requisitions raised in the Company’s ERP system (Maximo) into Purchase Orders, including the identification of any additional requirements such as tendering, RFQ, sole source justifications etc. in accordance with procedure. The incumbent will also be required to ensure compliance with technical specifications, quality, budgetary and scheduling requirements of the scope and delivering best value, at demonstrated market competitive costs, without compromising on safety or quality.
The Senior Buyer will act as contractual/commercial representative to ensure that the materials and/or service deliverables required are acceptable, including all commercial aspects and terms and conditions, ensuring that the Company is not exposed to any undue risk.
In addition, the Senior Buyer will also have the opportunity to provide ongoing contractual support by managing Company existing material framework agreements and identifying further value adding and cost saving opportunities for the organisation.
There will also be a requirement to support the Senior Contract Specialist(s) with any new contract award(s) and ongoing post award contract management to suit business needs.
Role and Responsibilities:
Health, Safety and Environment
• Actively comply with Company HSEQ policies and procedures.

• Provide daily support to ensure efficient and accurate sourcing and procurement of materials and services for activities related to all Asset business functions
• Review, analyse third party supplier quotations in conjunction with internal asset-team stakeholders.
• Lead contractual/commercial negotiations, where applicable
• Creation and Issue of Purchase/Service Orders and any subsequent amendments to meet business needs
• Interfaces and alignment with internal asset-team stakeholders with reference to scope definition, regulatory compliance, certification, transport & logistics
• Perform daily/weekly purchase order expediting activities, and prepare and issue a monthly status report to relevant stakeholders showing the status of any overdue purchase orders
• Manages conflicts and default situations with third party suppliers in close conjunction with internal asset stakeholders and the Senior Contract Specialist, as appropriate.
• Strive to continuously improve workings processes, ensure reliability by maintaining good relations with suppliers and reduce cost and complexity
• Support Post Award Contract Management Compliance in terms of supporting the business by scheduling and attending Business Performance Reviews with third party contractors
• Resolve invoice queries in conjunction with Finance/AP team to aid timely payment
• Assisting with the onboarding of new suppliers
• Ongoing management of Maximo Purchase Orders including expediting internal approvals.
• Full compliance with AOC Anti Bribery and Corruption (A.B.C.) Policy.
Asset Responsibilities
• Any other reasonably delegated responsibilities as required by Line Management.
Working Relationships
• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders including Senior Contract Specialists, Legal Counsel, Finance, Operational Teams and AOC Leadership Team as required and externally with AOC Third Party Contractors.
• Establish, build and maintain sound business relationships with key suppliers.
• Maintain links with OEUK and represent the Company at industry events such as Share Fair, Supply Chain forum meetings and working groups, as well as assisting with the implementation of OEUK initiatives within the Company such as P2P Good Practice.
Education & Skills
• Strong understanding and market knowledge of upstream oil and gas industry and Procure to Pay (P2P) supply chain management processes
• Sound knowledge of LOGIC contracting and procurement processes, INCOTERMS and HMRC Import & Export Customs regulations.
• Proven experience with contractual/commercial negotiations
• Demonstrate professional and highly ethical behaviours, aligned with AOC Values
• Educated to degree level in Law/Business Management and / or extensively proven and successful Supply Chain Management track record
• Work to a high degree of accuracy and detail
• Results oriented and commercially aware
• Strong negotiation, communication & organisational skills.
• Resilience with the ability to work under pressure of deadlines and demanding customers
• Self-motivated, with proven ability to work using own initiative by working under pressure to strict deadlines but ability to adapt to working as part of a team
• Reporting, analytical, predictive thinking and problem-solving skills
• Fully conversant with ERP systems (Maximo preferred)
• Good Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel preferred).
