Housing Duty Worker role, might be the first step!
As part of our new dedicated housing provision for 16-24 year old's based in Sutton in Ashfield, we are looking for responsible,
trustworthy and compassionate people to join our Support Housing team to oversee the smooth running of our building but also give
our residents all the support and care they require. This is your opportunity to be part of this from the very beginning!
Our Housing Duty Workers are at the heart and soul of our housing team; being the first person most of our residents come into
contact with; you will be there to support them with anything they need but also oversee the smooth running of the building in
general.
You will be share in our belief that everyone should have a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become.
Being a Housing Duty Worker is one of the busiest and most varied roles in our service; you will cover everything from support
work, incidents, administration, security, fire safety, cleaning support, and anything else that might crop up while you are on
shift.
With specific interest in supporting young people, you will enjoy variety, loves being busy and thrives off never being able to
predict exactly what will happen that day!
You will support our residents by:
· Being there to provide advice and assistance
· Providing keys/replacements where needed.
· Collecting rent payments and dealing with queries or charges relating to rent payments
· Taking the time to ensure they understand their tenant obligations and their rights and responsibilities as outlined in the
License Agreement
· Taking payments
· Providing first aid
· Responding to fire alarms
· Being a first point of call when dealing with incidents, including emergencies, including liaising with the police and other
agencies to prevent damage/harm to our residents and buildings.
· Crisis Management and incident reporting.
· If needed, undertake facilities/domestic duties to maintain the upkeep of our building.
You will also support applications from prospective residents, helping with form filling in etc as well as signposting other
agencies who may be able to help them.
You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hour per week. We work on a 3 week rolling rota so you would have advance warning of your
shift patterns.
The weekly shift patterns are:
7am - 3pm
3pm - 11pm
11am - 7pm
We have made sure our shift patterns are fully accessible by public transport no matter what time you start or finish.
We have our own team of weekend Housing Officers so there is no need for you to work weekends, unless you wanted overtime!

We are looking for someone ideally with experience or interested in gaining experience working in supported housing with
vulnerable adults and young people aged 16-24 years old.
However, we are also happy and able to give you the training and development to start your career in Housing.
You will need to have an understanding of the needs of young people (aged 16 – 25) who may have drug, alcohol and other issues.
Regardless of your background, you will be confident to deal with difficult situations and handle conflict appropriately.
This role would suit you if you have experience or a desire to learn skills for social work, youth work, housing, drug and alcohol
services, rehabilitation services, sociology, security and much more.
This role will really push your personal skills as we are looking for someone, regardless of experience who can:
· Work with minimal supervision, use initiative, work alone and work as part of a team
· Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies
· Deal with conflict, manage aggressive behaviour and diffuse situations effectively
· Talk to people of all background and abilities, with excellent communication skills
· Form and maintain relationships with appropriate professional boundaries, acting as a role model for our residents.
