As a member of the Emergency Medicine consultant body, you would cover adult patients at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), Paediatric Emergency Medicine at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) andMajorTrauma across both sites at our Oxford Road campus.The opportunity totailor ajob plantoplay tothestrengthsandparticular interestsof the ideal candidate mayexist.
RMCH’s Emergency Department has recently undergone an expansion and redevelopment while MRI hascommencedProject RED as part of its expansion and regenerationwith the first phase due to open in September 2024. This is an exciting period of growth; come and help us shape it!
The consultant body covers theshop-floorfrom 08:00 – 00:00, seven days a week with resident consultant trauma cover from midnight to 08:00. Self-rostering and annualised hours help balance your work commitments against a sustainable career in Emergency Medicine.
Emergency Medicine at MFT
The departments offer a wide range of specialty and subspecialty interests with particular focuson:academia, research, major trauma, ultrasound, Paediatric Emergency Medicine, undergraduate teaching, simulation and more. Our departments are busy inner-city institutions and provide cover for a diverse population with specific medical and social needs, providing an interesting and varied case mix. This is bolstered by being both an adult and a paediatric major trauma centre served by our recently opened helipad.

To join us,you’llneed to be on the GMC Specialist Register for EmergencyMedicine, orbe eligible for CCT or equivalent within six months of interview. Skills in supervising trainees, teaching junior medical staff, leading ateamand communicating with multidisciplinary colleaguesare keyas well.
