Summary
Regis College is seeking an Assistant Professor for the undergraduate program in Exercise Science with the ability to teach a variety of introductory and upper-level courses within the major and minor. Courses may include motor learning, exercise programming, exercise for special populations, psychology of exercise and sport, health and wholeness, first year seminar, or other courses within the exercise science curriculum. Primary responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate level, course evaluation, assisting the program director with assessment and ongoing program development, serving on committees, advising students, and providing professional service to the department, college, and community-at-large. A passion for excellence with gentleness, a commitment to creative instruction, collaboration and innovation, and positive energy are fundamental to this position.
The Exercise Science program is housed within the School of Health Sciences on the Weston campus of Regis College in Massachusetts. The position requires an advanced degree and includes teaching, scholarship, and service. Rank is commensurate with previous teaching experience, past scholarly achievement, and service. Courses for this program are offered in-person on the Weston campus.
Responsibilities Include:
* Teach, organize, and coordinate assigned courses within the discipline including curriculum maintenance, innovation of content, curriculum assessment, and documentation.
* Assign grades and provide relevant, substantive, and value-added feedback in a timely manner (as described in the Faculty Handbook) through appropriate online classroom systems.
* Assist Program Director in developing affiliation agreements and internships.
* Assist in ongoing program development and promotion.
* Assist with preparation for future accreditation.
* Academic advisement of undergraduate students.
* On-campus presence necessary to enhance student interaction and promote the exercise science program.
* Engage in scholarly/service activities appropriate to the discipline such as presenting at national, regional, and local conferences, conducting research and/or grant writing and participating in related service activities.
* Complete all roles and responsibilities associated with a faculty appointment, including teaching, scholarship and service to the Department, Programs, School, and Institution.
* Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Dean.
Qualifications
Qualified Candidates Must Possess:
* An advanced degree in kinesiology, physical education, or related field; doctoral degree preferred.
* Two years of college or university teaching experience preferred.
* Excellent organizational abilities.
* Record of innovation, leadership, and application of best practices in education as well as contributions to the field through service and/or scholarship.
* Demonstrated evidence of the use of instructional technology.
* Ability to uphold the university’s commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.
