To manage and develop the daily delivery of a specialist technical service within a designated section. This will incorporate the pharmacy strategy for medicines management. The post holder will also perform a range of medicine supply functions; these will be predominantly concerned with accuracy checking and management of stock control. The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis. Performs the role of Lead Technician during evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays and is a named member on the Pharmacy MAJAX call out procedure. Line management and supervision of staff within assigned area. Direct and support staff assigned to the specific area on rotation including other technical grades, pre-registration and qualified pharmacists. Responsible for training and development, attendance management including co-ordination of annual leave and lieu time for staff assigned to that area. Maintain links with other Specialist Pharmacy Technicians, managers and other pharmacy staff to ensure a safe and efficient service. Ensure departmental work is completed within agreed deadlines. Ensure equipment and materials are used responsibly relating to Trust risk assessments. The Trust reserves the right to require employees to work either temporarily or permanently at or from any other of the Trusts establishments at any time Ensure all staff complies with Trust and Pharmacy Policies and Procedures. Responsible for all stock control ensuring optimum stock levels and minimal wastage, including ordering and receipt of medicines and consumables into designated area. Report departmental statistics,including dispensing errors and incidents, to relevant services manager on a monthly basis. Member of or eligible to become technician registrant of General Pharmaceutical Council Extensive post qualification experience Supervisory / Management experience of staff Expert knowledge of good dispensing/distribution/manufacturing practice High level of knowledge of medicine stock control systems Hospital pharmacy experience Excellent literacy, numeric and written communication skills Accuracy checking experience Experience of managing change Experience of training/assessing staff Experience of developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Computer skills
