Clinical Support Worker - Emergency Department

We are currently recruiting for a number of Band 2 - Clinical Support Worker roles within our busy ED department.
The Emergency Department (ED) at Warwick Hospital has a yearly attendance of over 100,000 patients, offering a wide range of clinical experience including paediatrics.
The successful applicant will be passionate about patient care with a desire to develop within an emergency setting. We are seeking dynamic support workers ready to expand both clinical skills and enhanced patient care within a busy environment.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Support Worker will undertake high quality, caring and compassionate personal care and associated duties under the direction and supervision of the registered professional and working as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
As a Clinical Support Worker (CSW), you make a valuable contribution to the delivery of high-quality healthcare in the Trust. Your role is to support the registered professional in the delivery of safe, effective, compassionate care to patients and their relatives.

Clinical Practice

4. Provide and deliver a high standard of individualised care under the direction of the registered professional.
5. Document all care delivered to patients, maintaining confidentiality.
6. Assist in the preparation of patients for treatment as directed.
7. Keep the clinical area clean and tidy.
8. Adhere to Trust infection control procedures.
9. Chaperone or escort patients as needed.
10. Support relatives with compassion and empathy.
11. Assist with the discharge process for patients as directed.
Communications and Interpersonal Relationships
1. Welcome patients, relatives, and visitors to the clinical area.
2. Introduce yourself in line with the Trust's privacy and dignity promises.
3. Answer the telephone courteously and pass on enquiries.
4. Communicate effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.
5. Contribute to the reporting and documentation of patient care.
6. Report incidents, accidents, and complaints as per Trust Policy.
7. Use the Trust information support system as required.
Team Working
1. Ensure the safe keeping of patients' property.
2. Promote a professional, welcoming environment.
3. Share responsibility in the care and maintenance of all equipment.
4. Ensure all waste and soiled linen is disposed of per Trust policy.
5. Participate in audit under the direction of the registered professional.
6. Clean and check beds and lockers following discharge.
7. Ensure deliveries are stored correctly and stock is maintained.
8. Support the housekeeper with general housekeeping duties.
Education, Training and Personal Development
1. Ensure attendance at mandatory training sessions.
2. Complete the Trust's Clinical Support Worker Induction programme.
3. Participate in the Trust Appraisal process.
4. Undertake necessary training for development.
5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in policies and procedures.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Obtained an educational level of GCSE level A - C English and Maths or equivalent.
Experience
* Experience working as part of a team.
* Experience in delivering care in a healthcare environment.
Skills
* Able to work to agreed competency levels.
* Good written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
* Able to present information accurately and clearly.
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
* Ability to write accurately and legibly.
