We are looking for a Project Team Manager (PTM) to lead a high performing team that delivers innovative projects including ones that reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment.
This role sits in Programme and Contract Management (PCM) and is a senior position taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of a team consisting of 8-12 people.
You will be responsible for performance management, recruitment and succession planning and you will support staff through coaching and assign work to ensure work-life balance and personal development.
You will build a great working environment and demonstrate a commitment to health, safety, equality, diversity and inclusion. You will champion collaborative working and build a strong network of relationships.
You will be confident in escalating complex issues raised by your team and as an effective problem solver, you will work closely with colleagues across the Integrated Delivery Team adapting programme delivery when key issues escalate.
In addition to the above, as part of the management team you will take on additional responsibilities where required.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what the EA does. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. Supporting incident response may attract an additional payment as well as facilitating further career development as it gives you the opportunity to see how other parts of the business works. Full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
We are the Programme and Contracts Management team (PCM), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. The North East PCM hub is led by a Delivery Manager overseeing 70-120 staff, supported by Programme Specialists, Programme Managers and Project Team Managers (PTM). Each PTM manages Project Executives, Project Managers and Project Support Officers who manage the delivery of projects within our flood & coastal erosion risk management programme using our framework suppliers.
Experience/skills required
Essential Skills: ·
Proven record of great leadership; inspiring people and building working environments with collaborative, high performing teams.
· Experience working with a wide range of partners/stakeholders and building consensus
· Skilled in developing and coaching staff, managing performance, building inclusive relationships, resource management and knowledge sharing
· Excellent communication and influencing skills
· Confident using Microsoft Office, SharePoint, MS-Teams
· Aptitude to learn new systems and develop processes to support your team and their programme of work
Desirable Skills:
· Qualified to degree level/equivalent in engineering, environmental, project management or a geography discipline
· Chartered membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CMI, ICE, CIWEM, APMP
· Technical knowledge/understanding or experience in programme/project/asset/contract management, risk/change management, stakeholder management and H&S
