Jobsworth Recruitment are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our clients based in Oxford. However, you will be required to work from their Birmingham office twice a week, so a full UK driver’s license and own transport are a must for this position, along with a willingness to commute. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing costs and ensuring the financial viability of construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Location: Oxford based, however you will also be based in Birmingham twice a week.
Salary: £25,000 to £30,000 per year, including company pension.
Hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
Responsibilities
1. Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
2. Monitor project progress and provide regular updates on financial performance.
3. Conduct cost analysis and identify areas for cost savings throughout the project lifecycle.
4. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to ensure alignment on budgetary constraints.
5. Review contracts and negotiate terms to safeguard the organisation's interests.
6. Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to projects.
7. Prepare tender documents and assist in the selection of contractors.
8. Provide advice on procurement strategies and risk management related to costs.
Requirements
1. A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or currently studying for a Bachelor’s.
2. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry is highly desirable.
3. Strong knowledge of cost control principles and practices.
4. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
5. Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
8. A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making is essential.
