Senior Pharmacy Technician- Immunotherapy (Maternity Cover)

We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a Senior Pharmacy Technician to join the Immunotherapy Clinical Pharmacy Team. The successful candidate will help to deliver pharmacy services to all our adult outpatient based clinical specialties and assist in the co-ordination of complex, high risk and high cost medicines to patients in their home or the relevant day centres.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be a core team member, working with a team of Highly Specialist Pharmacists across our adult clinical specialties; Allergy, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Neurology and Ophthalmology. Their clinical practice will be to deliver high quality clinical care to a cohort of medically complex patients that require their long term conditions to be managed in secondary / tertiary care.

Job responsibilities
The Pharmacy departments of Guys and St Thomas provides safe and effective pharmaceutical ward and dispensary services to the many inpatients and outpatients of the Trust's many specialties. This post will sit within the Immunotherapy Clinical Pharmacy Team.
To be responsible for providing a safe, efficient and cost effective pharmacy service for Immunotherapy ward based inpatients, day case and outpatients including:
* Providing pharmaceutical support to our day case Infusion Suite and speciality Day Units
* Providing pharmaceutical support for patients receiving medication at home (homecare)
* Supporting the specialist pharmacists and wider Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) in outpatient clinics where medicines are prescribed and administered on site
* Supporting the Immunotherapy Specialist Pharmacists in delivering medicines optimisation projects
* Supporting the set up and prescription management processes for patients receiving medications via an agreed free of charge, early access or post trial schemes
Person Specification
Qualifications and Professional Registration
* Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Qualified pharmacy technician with pharmacy services level 3 plus an accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent)
* GCSE, or equivalent, Maths and English grades C or above
* Accredited technician checking qualification
Experience
* Experience as a Pharmacy technician
* Confident and proficient with IT, using MS Outlook, Excel, Word
* Experience with 'EPIC' software
* Stock level management and maintenance experience
* Hospital pharmacy experience
Skills
* Work accurately, methodically and efficiently
* Excellent communication (speaking and writing) skills with the ability to relate to a diverse group of professional staff and patients
* Able to deal with challenging, abusive or upset individuals, calmly, politely and effectively
* Logical thinker and able to solve problems independently
