Salary Range: £35,200 - £52,800
Location: Eastleigh once a month

Technical Underwriter: The Technical Underwriting Team at Ageas deliver to promise by providing the technical expertise and oversight to deliver products and product change to market in line with business and regulatory requirements and maintaining their integrity throughout the product lifecycle. Simply put, the Technical Underwriting Team are ‘Product Controllers’.
Main Responsibilities as Technical Underwriter:
* Maintaining and developing underwriting rules and technical processes and recommending necessary changes to maximise market opportunities, achieve the plan growth and profitability, and control areas of poor performance;
* Leading and supporting projects, ensuring products remain fit for purpose, systems and technical processes are properly maintained and delivering within agreed timescales;
* Contributing to the development of policy covers and technical processes and assisting in the development of rating structures for new and existing products. Implementing and communicating changes across Ageas and its brokers and partners;
* Evaluating new scheme, affinity and product propositions and determining the optimum underwriting and technical process proposition to achieve maximum growth and profitability;
* To ensure that policy wordings and the technical content of other documentation, including guides, are updated to meet business needs.
Skills and experience you need as Technical Underwriter:
* GCSE English and Math is essential, educated to A level standard or have had the same level of relevant work experience is preferred.
* Previous in-depth experience in a Personal Lines underwriting environment is essential.
* Certificate in Insurance with some progress towards CII Diploma preferred.
* A sound understanding of underwriting and pricing principles and experience of a wide range of technical issues, including the construction of policy wordings.
* A working knowledge of the personal lines market and of current legal/industry developments affecting the market.
* Organised and thorough, with good project management skills and demonstrating attention to detail, and demonstrating good risk evaluation skills.
